Jamie Oliver recently created a powerful online petition to lobby governments around the world to provide compulsory, practical food education in schools. As I write this 673, 528 people have signed it and I have no doubt he will reach the 1 million signature goal.
He passionately believes it is every child’s human right to have the life skills that will enable him or her to live a healthier, happier, more productive life.
I couldn’t agree with Jamie more – our mission for Striver is virtually identical.
We all have an important role to play in helping every child achieve this, that’s why we are all in education, whatever role that may be.
But do we need to legislate this? And will legislation help? What can we do now, before we hear it from Nicky Morgan or David Cameron (or their counterparts post May 7th) as a snappy sound bite on the 7 o’clock news?
